(Bass: E F# G# A)
A D A
All my daydreams are disasters
A D A
She's the one I think I love
A F#m D
Rivers burn and then run backwards
A D A
For her That's enough
They all come from New York city
And they woke me up at dawn
She walked with me to the fountain
She held on to my arm
(Chorus:)
A (A B C#)D (C#) Bm
C'mon do what she did Roll me on to New Madrid
D E (E F# G#)
Shake my baby and please bring her back
A (A B C#)D (C#) Bm
'Cause death won't even be still It caroms over the landfill
D E A
Buries us all in its broken back

There's a man of conviction/ and although he's getting old
Mr Browning has a prediction/ We've all been told
So come on back to New York City/ Roll your trucks in at dawn
Walk with me to the fountain/ and hold on to my arm

The tab keeps in time with the lyrics. The spaces between them doesn’t mean anything.
This song is flatpicked so you have to be quick to keep in time with the melody.
The note before the last C chord in each line is a transition note so it’s very fast.

INTRO:
| C / / F | C / / / | F / / / | C / / / |
| C / / F | C / / / | G / / / | C / / / |

VERSE 1:
C F C
Oh fear the hearts of men are failing
F C
These are latter days we know
C F C
The Great Depression now is spreading
G C
God's Word declared it would be so
CHORUS:
C F C
I'm going where there's no depression
F C
To a better land that's free from care
C F C
I'll leave this world of toil and trouble
G C
My home's in heaven, I'm going there

SOLO:
| C / / F | C / / / | F / / / | C / / / |
| C / / F | C / / / | G / / / | C / / / |

VERSE 2:
C F C
In this dark hour, of midnight nearing
F C
The tribulation time will come
C F C
The storms will hurl the midnight fear
G C
And sweep lost millions to their doom

CHORUS 3X
ENDING WITH:
G C F C G C
...heaven, I'm going there

This is my take on the song. It is very basic and nowhere near the level of
picking as in Tupelo’s version but it works.

Eventually

*(Rhythm guitar riff: as close as I can tell is an open G chord with an
open B string with the innards of a C chord hammered-on (Strumming centers
on the middle strings, so you can actually not even finger the G chord,
just deaden all but the D, G and B strings):
