(G)Casino, (D) Casino lights
They (C) only bring darkness to the (G) night

(G)They sat at a booth and she said "We're (C) leaving (G) tonight"

Capo 2nd fret

(G)We were (Bm) camping in (C) the des(G)ert near some (Bm) old (C) mines
(G)For a week we (Bm) walked around the (C) deserted old (G) shafts
That's when we (Bm) found the (C) body
(G)It was coverd in (Bm) dirt and gravel
The (C) only thing showing were (G) the feet
One shoe on and the (Bm) other just a worn out (C) sock

(G)My dad he uncoverd (Bm) him and (C) said the boy wasn't even (G) 20
Black eyes, broken (Bm) nose, and teeth (C) missing
(G)He wore a red flannel (Bm) coat but he (C) wore no (G) pants
And dad said he'd probably (Bm) only been dead the last (C) couple of days
'Cause (Bm) there was no smell and you could still see (C) life, life in his (G) face

Instrumental: (G) - (Bm) - (C) - (G) x2

(G)We drove into (Bm) town and we (C) called the (G) police
And watched them as they (Bm) took the body (C) away
(G)We stayed the (Bm) night in a (C) road side (G) motel
(G)Dad had a bottle of (Bm) "Old Crow" and he finished (C) it
(G)As he lay passed (Bm) out. Oh, I (C) knew I'd never (G) sleep
'Cause it could have (Bm) been my dad or (C) me
What they (Bm) ended up calling "the (C) incident at Conklin (G) Creek"

Capo on 3

Intro: D / D / D / D / G repeat (this can be played as a sweet walking bassline from D down to G)

[D]Everyone inside was half ruined and almost [G]gone
Out[D]side in the frozen parking lot
He held her [G]in his arms
As he [D]led her inside, her glasses fogged from the [G]cold and
They [D]both stood there dressed up in their [G]best clothes
"Has [Em]anyone here seen my dad" the girl [G]called
"Cause he [Em]hasn't been to work and I don't know where he [G]lives anymore"

Not [D]everyone lives their life [G]alone
and not [D]everyone gives up
Or is robbed or [G]always stoned
Not every[A]one
Not every[G]one

Break: as intro

The [D]bartender bought them rounds
And made a [G]toast and
With a [D]polaroid took their picture and hung it
Up on the bar [G]mirror all alone
And for a [Em]little while it was like
The whole world was [G]alright like
No one was [Em]beaten or forsaken or had given up
When they'd [G]just seen light

Not [D]everyone lives their life [G]alone
and not [D]everyone gives up
Or is robbed or [G]always stoned
Not [D]everyone lives their life [G]alone
and not [D]everyone gives up
Or is robbed or [G]always stoned
Not every[A]one
Not every[G]one
