Designs On You (Old 97's)

From: "Satellite Rides" (2001 - Elektra)
Posted by Fatelvis, transcribed by Robert Lin / Tony Velasco and amended by Ryan Humbert

(It's in Key of A#, so capo 3 if you use regular tuning, or capo 5 if you tune down 1 full step like the Old 97's do.)

D Em
Standing on the corner of 6th how'd I forget
A G D
Trying to do right by you all night Annette
Bm
You can go ahead and get married
Em
and this will be our secret thing
Bm
I won't tell a soul except the people in the
D
nightclub where I sing
Bm
I don't want to get you all worked up
G
Except secretly I do
D A
I'd be lying if I said I didn't
Bm G
have designs on you
D A
I'd be lying if I said I didn't
Bm G
have designs on you
(repeat as above)
Standing on the corner of 6th
Where do I go
The parade's shut down now the rain is running the show
Where did all these people come from
And how soon can they leave
Normally I'd be into it but I need to get some sleep
Though I do wish you'd come over
But I'm warning you if you do
I'd be lying if I said I didn't
have designs on you
I'd be lying if I said I didn't
have designs on you
(guitar break)
Standing on the corner of 6th
Where do I get
Trying to do right by you all night Annette
This would only be an experiment
In things that could have been
You can go ahead and get married
And it'll probably never happen again
I don't mean to make you excited
except secretly I do
I'd be lying if I said I didn't
have designs on you
I'd be lying if I said I didn't
have designs on you
I'd be lying if I said I didn't
have designs on you
I'd be lying if I said I didn't
have designs on you

Niteclub (Old 97's)

From: "Too Far To Care" (1997 - Elektra)

Tune down two notes (whole step). The song is actually played a little sharp so once you tune down two notes you might want to slightly tune up a bit to play along with the record

Intro piano arranged for Guitar
C G/B C Em Am F

[C]Eighteen-hundred miles from this old[F]nightclub
A[C]girl is turning 22 to[G]day.
[C]How am I supp[C7]osed to enter[Am]tain you?[F]
My[C] fingertips are [G]worthless when my [F]mind's so far aw[C]ay.

Eighteen-hundred miles from Manhattan
The nightclub yawns and opens up it's doors.
Thank god that I don't have to pay the cover,
'Cause every night I'm broker than I was the night before

Yeah this old [F]nightclub stole my [C]youth,
This old [G]nightclub stole my [C]true love[C7],
It follows me [F]around from town to [C]town.
I just might get [G]drunk tonight and [F]burn the nightclub [C]down,
I just might get [G]drunk tonight and [F]burn the nightclub [C]down.

[E E Am Am]
[E E F G]
[E Am E F]
[C G F C]

Telephones make strangers out of lovers,
Whiskey makes the strangers all look good.
Well my angel of the morning is in mourning.
My life was misspent, don't let me be misunderstood.

And this old nightclub stole my youth,
This old nightclub stole my true love,
It follows me around from town to town.
I just might get drunk tonight and burn the nightclub down,
I just might get drunk tonight and burn the nightclub down.
I just might get drunk tonight and burn the nightclub [Am]down.[F F C]

Salome (Old 97's)

From: "Too Far To Care" (1997 - Elektra)

Intro: Tune down guitar one whole step. This intro is probably played in bar chord pattern on electric guitar (so the bass notes won't ring on) like in the first chord but I pretty much transcribed it for acoustic guitar. The notes are the same just transpose them into bar chords on electric if you want it to sound more like the electric.

Here are the chords. Remember to tune down a whole step. The chords during the solo are the same as the verse.
On the transition from the G to Em in the chorus, you can throw in an F# in bass of the G chord.

[G]Salome, [D]uncross your heart.
[Am]I know what goes on inside, it's[C]over before it[D]starts.
[G]Well I'll stay all night, [D]I'll wait right here.
The[Am]fullmoon might work magic girl,but[C]I won't disap[D]pear.

CHORUS:
[C]And I'm tired of making[G]friends, and I'm tired of making [C]time,
And I'm sick to death of[G]love, and I'm sick to death of [Em]trying.
And it's easier for [C]you, yeah it's easier for [G]you. [Em]
And it's easier for [C]you, yeah it's easier for[G]you. [Em C]

Salome, untie my hands.
Well I'll find another lady, and you'll wreck another man.
It's over now, yeah and so are we.
My blood's turned to dirt girl, you broke every part of me.

And I'm tired of making friends, and I'm tired of making time,
And I'm sick to death of love, and I'm sick to death of trying.
And it's easier for you, yeah it's easier for you.
And it's easier for you, yeah it's easier for you.
